Images and alt attributes

When placing an image into your website there are two areas that a search engine can read information about that image. The first being the name of your image and the second being in the alt tag description, which may appear like this:

<img src="keyword.jpg" alt="keyword" />

Both are more important in an image search. However by neglecting the alt tags may have a very negative effect on a regular search.
